Hi Keith it looks to be by Mtarfa Glass Malta, they do this shape and also colour seems right.

Here's another similar piece, this time by Lorraine Glass of Montreal. It looks like the Lorraine piece has far heavier casing on the base, though. ALso much more likely that a Mtarfa piece would find its way to Britian that Lorraine. Sorry about the terrible picture.

Isn't this shape used by a variety of glassmakers?

I would have thought difficult to attribute by shape and colour alone.

Agreed, John. What I should have said explicitly was that the piece could have been made by a number of glassmakers. I attached a photo of a similar Lorraine piece, but I could have also shown some Scandi pieces.

Keith, I think you'll find that most similar pieces made by a variety of glassmakers would have the same groove in the handle, which is created when the glassmaker uses tongs to pull the glass into shape. The Lorraine piece has grooves, e.g.
