Pearline / Vaseline opal pressed glass plate
« on: January 28, 2010, 01:26:21 PM »
any help with this pattern would be very much appreciated.

I can't seem to find it in Jenny Thompson or Hajdamach, checked out the carnival glass patterns but nothing seems to be exactly right - I must have missed something somewhere?

thanks in advance

Sorry, no idea Lynne. Can't see it in my books, maybe Glen would know.  ;)

Thanks Christine,

I had a good look through Glen's book "Century of Carnival Glass" and on the David Doty site, but I can't seem to see this.  But there are SO many different geometric patterns it is hard!

Here's hoping someone will recognise it eventually,

Thank you very much!

Ah but Glen knows lots of patterns, not just Carnival ones

Yes, that's very true.  She has more knowledge in her little finger than in the whole of my head!

A little birdie tells me there might be some progress in identifying this absolutely stunning piece?

Hi,

If I remember this pattern is by Greener. It is very similar to Davidson's 1898 pattern (RD 303519).

Regards

Chris

Thanks Chris  - I was guided to a very similar dish at

http://1st-glass.1st-things.com/gallery-victorian/slides/dvdavidsonovalflintdish1897.html

which I think may be the Davidson you are referring to?  There are subtle differences though, on my plate, e.g. the lack of fans, and the addition of the circular banding.

Thank you very much!

Well I got the zippy star bit. I'm no good unless patterns are side by side or I already know what they are  ;D

the zippy star bit was good!!

I thought it was the same, I didn't notice the lack of fans in mine until I came back here  ::)
Thank you very much!
