I believe it was 1959. I have one of their decanters from that year. Our Jerry IDed it for me and gave the year.

 well, did this vase pre-date Moretti's satinato pieces ?

Your question is why I thought maybe it was the 1960s. But then it is hard to know who was imitating whom. What if one day we find out that one of the great designers borrowed all of their designs from a poor guy... and didn't even give him a penny after stealing all of his work. Oh, the horror.  :o

no that isn't what I meant, it was purely theoritical,
well, you do have a point,
I wasn't expecting that kind of answer.
