This year is the city of Perth 800 years anniversary of being approved the status of Royal Burgh when in 1210 King William the Lion granted the Royal Charter to the city.
There will be a year of celebrations in and around Perth, which will include an auction sale dedicated to antiques, fine arts and collectables relating to Perth will be held at L. Burns auction house in King Street Perth sometime in July, exact date T.B.A.
http://www.lindsayburns.co.uk/perth800sale/Perth and Perthshire has a long and distinguished history of glassmaking which includes the large factories, likes of Caithness and Strathearn to small individual studios of J. Deacons, the most famous of these would be Moncrieffs glass works which produced the art glass range known as Monart, made by the Salvador Ysart and his four sons from the early 1920’s to 1961.
Salvador Ysart and two of his sons left Moncrieff in 1946 to start their own company on the Shore Road making art glass named Vasart.
Both these will be well represented at the sale, Nick Burns auctioneer informed me “I have a few interesting pieces already consigned for the sale and hope to have good selection by the time of the sale”.
This early Monart D shaped vase in multi coloured outer and off white inner is one of the pieces that is coming up for sale.(permission given to use photo)
