GREEN LEAF BOWL - Bagley "Cocktail Time" pattern 3055
« on: February 07, 2010, 09:19:39 PM »
The leaf measures 23cm at longest point, widest point 19cm.  Height 3cm.  A rather large leaf bowl.  Can anyone locate the age and originator?  Many thanks!

Thanks Christine for you valid info.  I was able to trace one currently on Ebay - 220552833025.  I am not sure the person knows what this is too. I have noticed that within his/her description it states there is a firing mark to the base.  Any ideas as to what does this mean, as mine has no identifiable marks.   Once again, thanks for you help.

It's probably as shearing mark where the gob of glass was cut off to drop into the mould. The line occurs because the shears were cool and cooled that bit of the glass very slightly. It will be about 1-2 inches long and look almost like a crack. They are very common on old pressed glass. Glass pressing was only semi-automated and a man chopped off a bit of molten glass the right size.
