Unusual Milky Pink 6 sided faceted cased vase Murano?
« on: February 09, 2010, 03:22:14 PM »
Top quality, 6 sided Pinky white vase 19 1/2cm tall . a clear layer inside, cased inside the pink, which fades to white at the base. Its very nicely polished and finished, beveled edges. Base polished smooth
Feels good, i suppose its a Murano shape, Mandruzatto ?, but ive not seen anything like it
Hoping somebody else has ;D
Cheers
Andy

Your gray squirrel looks like our Eastern gray squirrel here in the USA. I'll have to check to see if they are the same species. Cool squirrel.

Do you think the vase is alabastro? It looks like it could be to me.

Fabulous piece of glass....  quite unique and very striking.....  I want one!!!

Would go well with my pink Italian group.....

I doubt Mandruzatto, I would guess one of the better houses, and it appears to have some age. 1950- 60's ??

Archimede Seguso is best known for their work with alabastro. Other Murano companies that worked with alabastro include La Serenissima (or however it's spelled), Franco Moretti, and Fratelli Toso. There are probably many others. The colors of your vase look like those used often by A. Seguso. They also did some faceted things over the years. So maybe...

The way the pink is used with alabastro reminds me strongly of a Seguso perfume we have in our collection.

Thanks everyone,
i think its very possibly Seguso, ive just had a google and i see he did a lot of pinky white,
the quality is definitey noticeable. Its in perfect condition, not one fleabite and the base
doesnt have much age wear, but just a feeling that it could be 50 years old.
It was quite dirty in the charity shop, and i nearly passed it, but just had a closer look,
and thought it was well worth the £5 pricetag ;D

Cheers to all,
Andy

Mod. could this be moved to Murano, please
