Tapio Wirkkala 3837 vase green cased
« on: February 09, 2010, 08:45:18 PM »
i just purchased a green cased vase about 9" tall signed tapio wirkkala 3837 or 3537 (but it isnt a bambu vase). .. it looks a lot like the tapio decanter, but has a larger opening/pipe like top and a more rounded shoulder.  can anyone help me identify this and tell me more about it?  it is rare?

I believe the correct number is 3537, a vase produced in the 60's, originally in neon blue. I haven't found a reference to this colour. I'd guess it's fairly rare as nobody has replied to this thread yet. I certainly haven't seen one in my quite limited experience. It was produced the same time as that other neon blue, but more common, piece with the large flattened rim. Value? Who knows right now, but Wirrkala is always popular so I'd expect it be a respectable price, certainly over 60 pounds.

Hope this helps.

David.
