Shane Fero Rabbit with Murano Label
« on: March 11, 2010, 02:51:40 PM »
This one is convincing (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180476788315). It is a Shane Fero corroso rabbit with a Murano rooster label. Shane is a lampwork artist from the USA. He does several corroso animals. I have one of his dogs. I wrote the seller a few hours before the auction ended, but he must not have received the email in time? The bid price was low for the nice rabbit, so no monetary harm done.

Yes, I saw that one too, and put it on my "watch" list out of curiousity. The worn label and rather "fresh" looking signature didn't seem right for one. The main thing for me was the very un-Murano rendition of the physical features of the rabbit, especially the bulbous nose and simple round pads for the tucked-under feet.
Again, thanks for the info., Anita......

There is a good video showing Shane Fero making a flame worked bird at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLqQqHAbG6s. The rabbit in the listing and my dog are solid glass (or might have a small cavity in the middle -- hard to tell). I wonder if the heavier pieces may be furnace glass. I don't know enough about flame work to know if heavier pieces can be made.

I enjoyed watching him make the bird in the video. Maybe I'll start a Fero aviary. It would brighten the room

An update on the post after many years -- I don't think the Fero on the bottom of the corroso animal figures is Shane Fero. The corroso doesn't look like his work at all. I don't know who did the animals.
