British or Scandi or ?
« on: March 12, 2010, 11:03:36 PM »
Could you anyone shed some light on this mould blown green largish bowl - or jardiniere? - (16cm in height and a diametre of 19cm on top) with a relief decoration reminiscent (but definitely not the same) of Thrower's nipple vase for Dartington. Note the flower-shaped moulded base. Any information would be appreciated.

It reminded me of some of the pieces on this site
http://www.faglaviksglas.se/ovrigtglas2.htm

I haven't looked as they take a while to load but may be worth a trawl through?

That said, someone will most likely come along who recognises it instantly hopefully  :)

nice - I like the colour as well.

wonderful website, thank you for linking it through. There is indeed a remarkable amount of textured glass there - but the item at issue is not from there, as there are technical differences. I would think the item is Finnish or German. Why? Just a hunch....

Yes, Ivo..I thought Finnish was a good possibility. But, I am quite at a loss that I cannot find such a largish piece in any of my (many) reference resources. I do no not much about German glass, so that's harder for me to be sure. Thanks again. Carlo

Andrew, my very valuable assistant, has managed to track down a photo of a smaller and exact version of this jardiniere in a grey colour complete with an ORREFORS sticker! So the mystery is solved.:hiclp:...Strange, Orrefors had not crossed my mind at all...
