Possibly Sowerby or Davidson. They both made a similar shape.

thanks Christine  :)
I had a look at the Davidson site and found the sort of tricorn version, but I'm sure dredging my memory that this was id'd as Sowerby.  Doesn't really matter (a friend wants to buy them and I just wanted to tell her what they are) but of course now I'm wracking my brains as I KNOW I have seen it somewhere on here - irritating.
I'll have another trawl of both areas

I have a kingfisher-y blue one with a Nazeing label on it, right here in my mitts. Not sticky mitts, too much dust in it for that!

You will see the Sowerby model here - whether it was made in anything other than this purple cloud I have no idea. But if you read the text it mentions

Quote
It is very similar in shape and size to Davidson's 589/2 dish which was designed for Davidson by the 'Design Research Unit', London.

thank you Sue and David  :)

David I found the cloud one but was sure that somewhere on this site there was a blue one also attributed to Sowerby as I remember coming across it and being surprised my little bowl had a name  :) but I can't find the thread about them at all at the mo

Sue, the Nazeing attribution led me to find this link of a pic
Ebay item 260550527355

I think they all look remarkably similar  :-\  so I'll give her both options  ;D
Very simple design ashtrays but look great.  The red is my favourite.  There must have been masses of them made (my gran had the blue one) but I've not seen a red one before.
Thanks again

Hi
It was produced in a range of colours and was shown in some Sowerby adverts as late as the 60's. It was later produced by Nazing who of course took over production of Sowerbys coloured glass sometime in the 70's.
