Glass -- on Drugs (?) ID = Skrdlovice
« on: March 14, 2010, 08:56:17 AM »
Hi, I bought this today.  It has a real FLUID look to it....looks lopsided...but balanced.  From some angles it looks weird, but then from other angles it does not.  Very, very heavy piece.  Looks made well.  Glass is a nice Green color, and the base looks like it has some wear....so I do think it has *some* age to it.  Thought (maybe) Chalet.......but not sure.  Any idea?

Size:
8 inches long
6 inches Wide
4 inches High

Please excuse my description -- but .... lol.  Catchy TITLE, eh?

Hi,
the colours rather look Czech to me, Skrdlovice perhaps?

Hi Dirk... Thanks for the reply.
I did some googling here after you mentioned that name -- and I see what you mean.  While I was doing that - was referred back to here (glass Gallery) about a booklet.  (Sort) of looks like the one in the top left corner of this booklet.....(??)

Looks at least related I´d say. There would still be a few minutes left to add ´Czech?´
to your subject-line...   (to get the more knowledgable people having a look)  ;)

Oooops - missed the deadline to add Czech to topic.  Maybe the MOD can ADD the word CZECH into the Topic line TO:  Re: Glass -- on Drugs (?) Very Fluid CZECH ?.  Since you are pretty sure it is.  I am happy to know too.

Thank you very much

Ah Hah,  so your title wasnt catch enough !  ;D
I agree with Dirk, those colours are very very Skrdlovice, Ive a few quite similar shapes,
but not quite. I will have a look, Jindrick will know instantly if he pops in,
you need Skrdlovice in the header,
Cheers

Hi there
yep definatly czech, i would normally say Baranek for skrdlovice, but currently there is debate as to if it is or not, many vases coming up and pieces all in similar styles and colours but nothing marked or stickered which you would expect at least one to be.
I know Jindrich believes they are definatly Skrdlovive, but Robert (boBo) is not sure (both of which are czech glass experts and very knowledgable.
Definatly a debate to watch and hope we find proof one way or another.
I will add a link to the earlier debate
By the way there is a vase in the exact same colours as this piece on ebay, ive added it as a link somewhere in that thread. I had one early last year almost identical which was sold at the time as Jan Baranek skrdlovice and made very good money.

Hi Rose,
heres a few of mine in the same colour, also got some blue and purple ones.
These dont glow, although, i seem to remember some some do, i think the very large bowl i gave
away to my sister a few years ago, before i knew what it was! glows, i visited it yesterday and
gave it a clean for her :D I want to try and swop it one day , cos i want it back now .
They are Jan Beranek Skrdlovice, c 1959, im 99% yours is Skrdlovice, possibly a different range.
Cheers
Andy
