Hope it's ok to add this here and to ask for ideas?
I think what I have bought is an octagonal bowl all hand formed (It looks not quite perfect to be mould blown but I'm probably wrong) made of aventurine rolled in a clear base, with an applied foot (looks like a long sausage of glass pulled round in a ring for the foot) and with applied teardrops on each of the eight angles, snapped off pontil mark.  I have a dish/plate coming but I'm not entirely sure it goes with this bowl, I'll have to post it when it arrives.  I have not a clue whether what I've bought is old or new (and have no books that even cover anything like this), but so far what I've come up with is a possible Salviati or CVM late 1800's/early 1900's. Am I in the right area?  or completely off beam please?  :) thanks for any help.
