info. request for Wedgwood carafe/decanter.
« on: March 28, 2010, 06:50:28 PM »
something else from this morning, which unfortunately has some staining - I've already tried Coke (no, I mean the liquid ;)), with a little success, but still needs some more work.   I thought at first that it was just a carafe, because it has the lip and there is an absence of mat inside the neck - and that someone had shoved any old stopper in - but am now quite convinced it was made to have this stopper.  Both the handle and the stopper are hollow, and this makes the handle in particular look very attractive.     High quality ground and polished central pontil mark, and it really is a delicate shade of pinky champagne  -  but with handle and stopper clear.   About 220mm tall, and with the typical back-stamp for Wedgwood, as shown.     Very grateful if someone cud give me a an accurate date please, and what might it have been called??     Might it have been designed by FT.?   thanks for looking.
P.S.  the pic. of the back stamp has been taken thru a simple magnifying loop, as was suggested about a week ago  -  and it really does work - so thanks for the tip.

thanks for your reply  -  maybe the hollow stopper suggested FT to me.   I see very little material with this Wedgwood mark  -  couple of birds with the long tails and maybe a fish or two perhaps, but quite thin on the ground in this neck of the woods.

The stopper is FTish, as in on other FT items, but the decanter is not one of his. Some of his ranges were extended later
