Suite of mid 19th C Crystal glasses French Irish English?
« on: April 09, 2010, 02:24:58 PM »
Heres some pics of my large suite of 19th Century glasses, bought in one lot a few years ago,
covered in grime, some look like they have never been used, sparkling quality crystal.
Took me hours to clean and dust them all over easter, 1st time for several years :-[
I think its about time to move them on, seems a shame to break up the set but will probably sell
in groups of 6 or 8.
Over the years, ive looked for more info on them, i think my best estimate for date is c 1820-60
Origin, maybe English Stourbridge, or Irish or French.
Id appreciate opinions of age and origin.
Lovely stems, all hollow with air bubble inside and faceted. slice cut bowls, some just one row others 2 and
some 3. All with smallish polished pontil marks. Also Finger bowls.
Also any suggestions of anyone who may be interested in buying the whole lot, welcome.
Cheers all,
Andy

Andy, I think you mentioned these glasses more than one thread - did you get an answer anywhere from oldglassman (Peter)?

I mentioned them on the thread with some acid etched plates that came with these, i dont think Peter saw any close ups of the glasses. maybe he will find them soon.
Cheers

Thanks Peter,
i think date wise, im thinking 1850/60 ish, which would fit in with the acid etched plates.
No idea where from though, poss Irish Stourbridge French or .....................

I think id quite like the shelf space back for something easier to dust,
if anyone knows someone who may be interested in the whole lot, let me know,
seems a shame to split them, otherwise,i will probably sell them in small lots on fleabay ,
may try a set or 2 in local antiques sales.
cheers all,
Andy
