Vicke Lindstrand Vase
« on: April 12, 2010, 09:42:32 AM »
I have a vase of a fisher-woman with a basket on her head and the vase is covered in a pattern of fishing nets all around.  The design is "modern" ie not detailed engraving.  The signature on the base is Vicke Lindsrand with no other markings as far as I can see.  Does anyone know the pattern and where it might have been made.

BTW this is my first post and I am pleased to have found this forum.

Welcome to the board, we are likely to need some photos to be able to answer your questions. A photo of the vase and one of the base showing the signature please.

Hello,

Welcome to the board. From your description, I believe that this vase is designed by Vicke Lindstrand for Kosta, Sweden; is pattern number LG 131; and was designed in around 1955. The fishing nets should also have a string of polished roundals along their length - am I right?

Have a look and see if the mark/signature also includes the pattern number, that will confirm it  :)

Cheers, Nigel

Thanks for the replies.  Here are two more of my Orrefors pieces I would love to know more about.  I can write down the numbers on the Hald piece if they are not clear enough.

Thank you.  I bought the two Lindstrands in the 70's when I collected early 20th century art and the Hald was given to me at the same time.
