I'm not sure when this paperweight may have been made or where for that matter. It's signed Novaro in capitals , see photos below . Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks, Mike.

I'm not sure what a Jean Claud Novaro signature looks like ....could this be a fake ? Or is there another Novaro ?

I've added another pic of the base . Does anyone have a known J C Novaro paperweight to compare with this one , it's approx 3.5 inches in diameter ? I've had a look at some J C Novaro signatures and he does use capital letters and also (it seems) his initials , the N however looks different...any clues would be great ! Ta Mike.

I would like to give an update on this thread and paperweight. I managed to contact Jean Claude Novaro's website and I sent these pics of the paperweight to them. They kindly confirmed that it is an early paperweight made by Jean Claude in 1977. I also asked if I could put a link to their website here on this thread. I hope this information will be of help to glass/paperweight collectors. Many thanks, Mike. http://www.galerie-novaro.fr/novaro_english.html

Thanks JP, I am chuffed-to-bits ! I too hoped it was and it's the quality of the piece that made me think that it could well be a JCN (along with the signature of course !). It is so nice to know for sure though and I'm very grateful. It is a real find (which hardly ever happens !). It's great to have found an earlier example of his work and the multi-layered colours are superb and so evocative of the 1970's. ( Infact my grandmother knitted me a stripy Tank Top with a similar colour combination which I wore all the time in 1977 !). I wonder what the chances are of finding other examples ? Cheers, Mike.
