Hi can anyone confirm this is a Skrdlovice bowl... I was sold it as a Murano piece but I thought it could be a Czechoslovakian so I took a chance
the dealer told me it was bought from a old fellow who said he got it in Venice in the 1970s. Its size is 65mm in height, 220mm at its widest and
it weighs 1850 grams its got age related wear to the base.

It looks like a definite Czech piece, but not Skrdlovice. Mstisov and later Karlovaske Sklo, production as researched by GMB Czech glass man Jindra and photos of this piece are on his website under the heading solved issues. Still a quality piece.

The link to Jindrich's website is newer, more recent and more reliable information than on the GMB thread mentioned. Unfortunately time available to him means it is currently mainly written in Czech.

The key words on his site link that I posted are in capitals and in English next to pictures of this exact range of items (and those photos in the GMB thread mentioned by Andy) "Not Skrdlovice but Mstisov and later Karlovarske Sklo." Also is the text from an email from an employee of Moser glass who confirmed this for Jindrich, also providing factory pattern numbers of these items, from records held by Moser. I do not think the jury will be long making a decision based on this new evidence. The pattern number given by Moser for this bowl, in their email reproduced on Jindrich's site is is either 53908/35 cm  53906/20 cm depending on length.

A rough google translates translation of the email from his site:
Thank you for your email and for your interest in products of glass
Moser, whom he highly appreciated.

Blown glass in the photograph was produced in the glassworks Mstišov whose output
was in 1969 transferred to Moser. The entire production, including the
employees moved to Carlsbad and products from this glassworks
Although produced in Moser, under the brand name "Carlsbad Glass" (Karlovarske Sklo).

After the completion of metallurgical production of processed products in Karlovy Vary in 1983
took over production of glassworks in Chribska. Glassworks Chřipská then ceased production
in 90 past century.

The photo products are glass Carlsbad (Karlovarske Sklo):

candlestick - Manufacture number 53800/32 cm, collection is nameless
Vase - Manufacture number 53909/30 cm, collection of nameless
Ashtray - Manufacture number 53907/22 cm, collection of nameless
Bowl - Manufacture number 53908/35 cm, collection nameless
bowl - Manufacture number 53906/20 cm, collection nameless

I believe that we will clarify your questions. In case of any
questions or queries, please, contact us.

Wishing a nice day

I think this resolves the issue of origin for this range.

Thanky you Robert for help in translation.
I would say that this issue is solved, not Skrdlovice but Mstisov (later Karlovarske sklo).

Jindrich
