Large egg, aventurine spiral against dark background. Highly polished bottom.

Chinese? Italian?

What is the shape of the base? A photo would be good.

The spiral looks to be better controlled than most Chinese spirals I have seen (but that's not a lot). However, the top of the spiral is offset and bit untidy - features I have seen in Chinese sprial weights.

Circular it seems. There are also a few grains of white grit (refractory material) in the casing so not 100% perfect.

Thanks for the extra info, Ivo. Unfortunately, I am no closer to anything certain.

But the aventurine spiral does not seem to be as neat as I would expect from a Murano item.

My opinion is that it is a Murano item.  I've had that exact design in the past with a label.
