Topic: Stemmed port/sherry glass in teal green

Was wondering if anybody could identify and date this little glass please.

Hi Hil,
I think (or may have learned here) your glass is a bristol green wine glass dating around 1840.
Anyone agree?

I had if fact already typed this just as jp's post went in.......but will now add my thoughts...............
"and this time I hope I get it right .    One of my books....."English Glass" by Sidney Crompton  -  Ward Lock 1967........has on plate 152, a variety of Bristol Wineglasses  - "their colours ranging from peacock blue to dark green" and showing at the bottom left what appears to be a virtually identical looking glass.   I'm the least knowedgeable person to talk on the subject of C19 wine glasses, so can only quote from the book.      Unfortunately, sizes aren't given but looks to approximate reasonably well with the specimen shown here.   I believe that this shape of bowl is called 'trumpet' - and would believe Dirk's dating to be not unreasonable, and although the plate in question doesn't actually give a date, that section of the book deals with early C19 material.   Anyone else able to add to that?"

Thanks everyone for the info. These glasses came from the estate of my husbands Great Aunt and despite my protestations, my mother in law split the set and gave 2 glasses to each of her 3 children  :spls: I think I will go on a mission to reunite them all, one way or another. It seems such a shame to split sets up especially now I know they have probably survived for 160 yrs as a set. As an aside she did the same exercise with another set of 'probably Victorian' glasses too.

I agree with Christine that it is too well made. Pontil mark is not right. I think more than likely 1920s reproduction.

Ah! thanks. I was told it was Victorian when mil gave it to me and it isn't quite as 'perfect' as my first pictures portray. Have attached a couple more pics. Hope this helps to identify it
