Also look out for the 1993 Shipley Davidson exhibition brochure, very useful apart from three or four items on the wrong Sowerby or Bagley plinths, and several bowls and vases fitted with the wrong sized domes.   You might be able to get a photocopy from the Shipley Art Gallery, and it's also useful to get a photocopy of the handlist of exhibits, as it contains supplementary notes.

That was only 17 years ago.   As you can see, knowledge has improved since then by leaps and bounds, in no small part due to the dedication of Chris and Val Stewart.

Reference to the Davidson material, am I not correct in saying that Chris and Val Stewart have a completely new book in the pipeline - which believe they had mentioned would be in print this year??   Anyone have more information please.    Would certainly second Bernard's comments re the Stewart's magnificent contribution to that area of glass - truly outstanding

Errors.   The first four can be figured out without the brochure.

1.   Pattern 1 can't take a block and it's not 16cm, so it must be 293 (F version) or 294.

2.   Sizes should always be given in the units the manufacturer used.   Metric is useful additional information for some.

3.   2506 is the best known Sowerby plinth.   Aaaarghhh!!!   A dreadful M&M.   T&W Museums should have known that.   I wonder if Michael Parkington noticed.

4.   Now known to be 1931–1934.

1a.  For those with the brochure, it's illustrated, and it's a 294.

5.   For those with the brochure, you can see it's the wrong sized block.

So you can see that this is material that should be used with a little care.
