This delicate handkerchief vase has a label E & R Made in Italy plus a crown and the words "Golden Crown 1886"   There is a copy of this label in the Murano 101 Glass Gallery at http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-9174  where it is identified as Ebeling and Reuss. But I cannot find any info on an Italian company with that name. According to Ivo's little book the "Glass fact file a-z" Ebeling amd Reuss were a glassworks in Sweden who made tableware etc.
Does anyone have any more information? I'd be very grateful. And maybe we can add this label to Murano 101 when its sorted.

Angela, Ebeling & Reuss is an Import company in Pennsylvania, USA. They imported glass from several Murano companies, including Fratelli Toso, Galliano Ferro, AVeM, & others. The label doesn't provide much information about who made the vase.

The fazzoletto is one that even the experts are unsure who made it. In one newsletter, Aureliano Toso was suggested, but I don't think it is A. Toso. I found a similar bowl once that had a Montrose label on bottom. The bowl had filigrana that was like that of the fazzoletto -- pretty distinctive, but might not be exclusive. I haven't been able to find out anything about Montrose. It may be a furnace, store, or import company.

This type of fazzoletto is common. It apparently is Murano, but I don't know if we'll ever be able to attribute the glass.

I located the newsletter on the fazzolettos online. It is http://www.chinapdf.com/PDF-samples/Food/www.vetri-italianglassnews.com-websitesample.pdf. The ones similar to yours are on the bottom of page 15. I was convinced that they were probably A. Toso after I read this, but since have become unconvinced. The authors of the newsletter are experts in Murano glass, so who am I to say for sure?  :)

Wow I'm impressed. Thank you so much for all that information. At least we know what the initials mean. Do we have any dates for Ebeling and Reuss?
That is a fascinating article about the Fazzoletto vases, which I am enjoying reading. Pity my particular one gets to be pictured but still "of unknown origin" but I suppose "Probably Aureliano Tosso" is a start.
All the very best, and my sincere thanks,
Angela

There's a good link for E&R at http://www.porcelainmarksandmore.com/usa/philadelphia_1/00.php. It tells a little about their business and shows all the backstamps and labels used by them. I like these types of pages that give so much information in so little space. The 1886 on your label was the year they opened. I believe they are still in business.

Very good information there, and I was most interested in it too having a Handkerchief Vase.  I have attached a link of my vase posted here:   http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,33353.0.html

As stated, the one pictured is of  "unknown origin" but "Probably Aureliano Toso...." is a start.

Just realized I had spelled Handkerchief as Hankerchief in my post -- Whoooops LOL
