grey / lilac ovoid vase - ID = Caithness
« on: June 01, 2010, 08:42:32 AM »
Hi, after a great weekend bargain hunting i came across this ovoid vase. The picture etched on the front is of an Angel fish and the initials are PB on the base. Its 4 inches tall by 2.25 inches dia. The base is not polished but a small depression.
Many thanks

Hi , many thanks for that lead to Caithness. Had a look at various sites re Caithness and it does look as though it could be, taking into consideration the etching fish design and the glass itself.
Still a lot to learn
many thanks Lustrousstone

Hi,
Sorry for late response to your post but I bought the vase below last weekend.  It has a similar Angel Fish to yours, and I've had similar Caithness vases with the blue/green swirl; one had dolphins, the other penguins.  I like the shape of your vase.
Hope this is of use.
Marie.

Caithness, and the PB will most likely be the engraver's initials. www.scotlandsglass.com has a list of engravers I think (but it may have been done by someone else outside Caithness of course.)
