red bubble clam shell, Murano?
« on: June 02, 2010, 03:58:10 PM »
Hi all, I picked this up in a charity shop the other day. Its a beautiful deep red colour, has nice even bubbles all through and pulled down each end. The interesting bit for me is that it has two polished bases so it can be stood upright or over to one side for a different effect. I like it on its side so it looks like a shell. Its seven inches long, 3 and a half inches tall. I thought it might be a Murano piece but really I have no idea,  Any help would be nice,   Cheryl.

Looks like Murano to me - I have several items in more or less the same shape.

Hi there
From what i can see they are Murano believe they are called clam shells, i have one with cold leaf/aventuring inside and cased in a deep purple, also with the two polished bases so it sits upright or tilted
all the best

I'm feeling quite pleased with myself today, I'm beginning to identify the glass I'm buying. still managing to buy some rubbish though!!! I had a carboot sale last week and sold some of my 'mistakes' for more than I paid so its not all bad and I'm learning from buying the tat. ;D  Cheryl

Excuse me for being a bit thick but does 'bullicante' mean bubbles in the glass that are equally spaced. I searched the word on the board and that seems to be what it is.  :pb:  I will be able to impress my family with a nice new word!!!!  Thanks cheryl
