Topic: Murano Vase

Hi Guys
This evening on my way home I stoped at a local secondhand shop where I found a very nice vase which I think may be Murano 1960s it is just a feeling I have made a new album Murano Glass and placed 4 photos in it front back top and base, the photos are maybe not the best it was after 7pm and light was fading also the vase is very dirty I am soaking it over night so will take more photos when it is clean.

Can anyone tell just what it is I have ask any questions and I will do my best to answer, vase is about 7" high by 3" wide.

Hi

I think certainly Italian, the clear handles in that shape with the dusting of gold throughout them is very Venetian, it reminds me of a Salviati vase I have seen but that applied decoration is not constant

Also these glass spines to the side are something that I have on Venetian pieces, sides of bowls, etc.

Thank you for your reply, I had a look at Great glass, # 7500 Salviati Schmelze is very much like my vase.

I have sent a photo to Great Glass for there comments, will post here when they reply.

I want to say Bohemian glass, from what I have seen online before.
Mainly because of the handles and decoration to it.

I dont see much of a relationship to the Salviati schmelze-glass vase.

I believe that the style of decoration is "Facon de Venise" but having said that I don't believe it''s a finely executed piece which that appelation would suggest.
 
Like Javier, I feel the body is more typical of Czech / Bohemia. It has been suggested that production from other parts of Italy (and europe ?) is brought to Murano for this kind of decoration. I cannot remember which thread it was in.
