Chance glass - Canterbury in box
« on: June 21, 2010, 09:00:28 PM »
Hi,

I have 2 small Chance glass dishes, turquoise Canterbury. They're boxed + sticker + gold elastic band. Gold rims are immaculate and I can see no scratches. One corner of the plastic lid is broken off and one has a tiny rip. Sticker is on one of the dishes so I assume they have never been used.

Could anyone tell me if this a rare collectible?

Thanks,
Gabine

There are lots of different shapes in each pattern... have a look at David's site here: http://www.chanceglass.net it'll give you an idea of the range of shapes and patterns made. More details are in David's book Chance Expressions also available via that link. Hope this helps. :)

details are in David's book Chance Expressions also available via that link.   I have a feeling Anne that in conversation with David at the end of last year/beginning of this year, he was unable to supply further copies of the book.    At that time, Broadfield House did have a few left, when I purchased mine - so it is possible the museum might still have copies for sale.     Paul S.

Christine - my mistake - obviously I am not up-to-date.    I have just seen David Encill's comments from around the 25th of May.     thank you.

I have now updated the web site to reflect that new stocks of the book are now available. I am very pleased with the new print run.

Got to dash...
