Is this a Sharon decanter by Frank Thrower for Dartington?
« on: July 02, 2010, 08:16:36 PM »
Hello!

I love this site!!

I have loads of pieces of glass that I don't know any thing about, so I feel like a kiddie in a sweetie shop.

Just wondered if someone could tell me if the decanter in the middle is a Blenko 'Aladin' decanter?  Also, the jugs seem to be in the same style, or are they Scandinavian.

As always, any help greatly received.

Many Thanks

Mod: subject changed to something more meaningful

hello Guira  -  Don't know about the centre piece  -  but we have discussed the outer style on previous occasions - see here for some information: http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,33108.0.html

Hi!

Just been online and seen a similar decanter which is by Frank Thrower for Dartington, and is called the 'Sharon Decanter', could this be mine?

Kind Regards

Yep, looks like the decanter from the 'Sharon Suite' by Frank Thrower for Dartington, pat no FT115, 1970.

Now the title is wrong. Should be Dartington, not Wedgwood.

Mod: Oops! fixed, thanks Christine... dunno where Wedgwood came from!

Also Nigel has got the year and the number wrong. His info is for the Sharon suite of glasses. The Sharon decanter is FT334 and wasn't designed until 1983.

My apologies, you're quite correct Christine ;) :) - I made the assumption that the word suite included a decanter which looking at your reference it did not. Let's also add that the decanter was referred to as "The Orient Express" in addition to being the Sharon Decanter  :) :)

Hi!  Thanks for the confirmation and the further information w.r.t the decanter.  Whilst looking online, I thought that the 2 vases either side look like Otto Brauer Holmegaard vases, but with additional handles.

Could anyone set me sraight?

Many Thanks once again

Would you post them into a new topic please as this one will now be moved to British & Irish as a resolved question.
