Help with ID on Murano Vase Please.
« on: July 04, 2010, 05:00:13 AM »
Hi,  I have asked on ebay Aussie boards & on USA boards & have been told this board is the best chance of finding out about this Murano vase.
It has what looks to me like a large T under the base & a sticker/label,Wondering if the T would be the makers mark & if so would anyone know who the maker would be,date would also help.
Thanks for any help, Peter.

I would say it wasn't made in Murano, though perhaps sold or even decorated there. Note that the label says Sent Murano and Made in Italy. Looks like one rorm one of the Empoli or other mainland factories to me.

I've seen the SENT label on a few Murano vases that looked like they were mid-century. I don't know much about the company.

There is a SENT decanter set on eBay this evening -- item 190411136041. If I understand the listing, it is from 1962. It is unusual to see two SENT things in one day. Some of the things I have seen have not been this type of enamelled glass. I remember that one thing reminded me of AVeM or Seguso, but unfortunately, I didn't save that picture.

So is SENT a manufacturer or a retailer? My money would be on a retailer.

Hi & thanks for the replies , a member on the US ebay boards suggested that SENT may be a shop/retailer  or distributor of these items but have'nt been able to find any reference to it.

johnphillip, thanks for that,at least i can stop looking for makers marks now.

TxSilver, thanks for that item #.  Fantastic site you have, other half & i particularly like the birds. :hiclp:

the technique was definitely also used by some of the great makers in Murano - not just by little decorating shops.

Hi Ivo, The enamel decoration is very similar, the set you pictured is a little fancier in the swirls & curls.
Who is the maker of that set ?
