Aquarium - murano or copy? Possible factory?
« on: July 12, 2010, 08:30:46 PM »
Hi There

I recently bought this aquarium which seems to have the remnants of a murano sticker on the base. I would like to know if it is really Murano and if so is there any way of knowing the makers?

I bought it for €3.00 so although I wasn't sure I thought it was worth a punt  :)

It looks like a mid-century Murano piece. My first guess would be Seguso Dalla, based on the appearance of the fish and seaweed. A couple of other furnaces made similar fish, however, so I can't be sure.

I thought the very same thing after looking at the fish (Seguso Dalla).  I couldn't agree more with Anita on this one. :hiclp:  Many people mistake his work for Barbini, but his fish are different from Barbini's work.  Good deal on the price!  Wish I could find one for so cheap without it being made in China.
