Pigeon or Dove label = Alfred Taube, Germany 1950-92
« on: December 05, 2005, 06:38:30 AM »
Hi,
Please has anyone any idea?
Gold/silver-ish looking trapezoid label, stylised dove/pigeon facing left, possibly Italian, but? I know an image would be good, but again, copy-right prevents...
TIA,
Marcus

Nothing like it in Hartmann, have you looked through labels in Murano forum?

Can't we see it for educational purposes?

I can confirm it is; if you look closely at the label (I have the same vase in front of me) you can see that the script around it says "Alfred Taube Vohenstrauss" - but admittedly id is easily missed or worn off.

Which gives us a date - Franz Füger established Glass refinery/decorators 1901 Steinschönau, Bohemia. But my German is not to hot and Carmen is sleeping. I think he worked from the Glass school in Steinschönau for Lobmeyr's Neffe, J & L and set up his own refinery in 1925. After WWII set up Füger AG (mit Glassfabrikation nieder ?) with his brother Adolf.

In 1950 the firm became Alfred Taube and closed down in 1992.

there must have been a time the firm was run as Füger & Taube? i´ve seen
vases and liqueur sets labelled in such a way. Or is Füger & Taube a completely
different glassworks? (would be an astonishing coincidence)
