Dino Martens???...ID Confirmation If Possible...
« on: July 16, 2010, 07:52:05 AM »
Hi all, i just purchased this and am quite happy with it. It has a paper label 'Made In Italy' with something written in pen but it is now undecipherable. I am hoping on confirmation that this is a Dino Martens mezza filigrana vase for Aureliano Toso. It is just over 23cm tall. I love the technique of this and have drooled over pieces like this for years and am hoping I have done good!

ID confirmation would be great. I have seen this label before and have checked out the Murano labels here, at yobunny and fossils but can not locate it. My books are packed away so can't check those :(. Wishing I had the Dino Martens book but it is out of my budget at the moment. Your help appreciated.  ;D

Many many thanks tam bam for the confirmation! I was sure it was but I often get it wrong.

Thanks for the link antique. I got it of ebay. I was doing a random search and it popped up. Kept my eye on it till the last minute. Thankfully it went for 50% less than I budgeted for it as I wasn't sure what it would go for. But it went quite cheaply compared to some of the prices I have seen for this style.

I can't stop staring at it. It has me hypnotised! LOL...

Hi JP, it came out of a country Victorian town called Echuca which surprised me. And only 3 people bid on it  ;D. I can only assume the person who was bidding on it from the beginning is probably still annoyed they were pipped at the post at the last moment .

Great vase and buy Kane I can understand why you are so happy with it. I did see it on ebay but as it did not fit the A.S. MO I moved on.

I thought at the time that it might be Cenedese, wrong again :thud:
Clean and Crisp a Murano twist.
Archimede tops my list.
