I think i need to learn the difference between the two or maybe stop using ebay as a reference point
also i have a yellow cased vase could you please cast your eyes on this aswell,
also any ideas how long the chinese have been producing these

Yeah, there is a big difference in some pieces...

Take a look at these pieces of glass I have.  First one is Murano (with label) and the second one is the Chinese one. You can just see the real art, and talent in the first piece....the detail of the work.
