Bertil Vallien pot
« on: July 19, 2010, 07:40:38 PM »
Hi, I have a blue scandinavian pot with two labels on the bottom. One of the labels I cant make out,and the other label says Bertil Vallien. The pot is just under 12cm high and has a pontil mark on the base.I have taken four pictures of the pot and its lid and would like to know if any one could tell me more about it and its designer. Henry:

The key label is the Bertil Vallien one. He's one of the biggest names in glass, so I won't say too much. You can use the search function on the GMB to find out more or simply Google him. I think this is a fairly early piece.

The other label is a retailer's label for Ilums Bolighusi, I think. The piece probably made at Afors (Sweden) and sold as Afors or Boda. More likely Boda, would be my guess.

Old thread, but I haven't come across this before.
My parents have the exact same jar, with the Vallien label plus an Afors label; it was bought in the 1960s (so it is fairly early for Vallien I think).

BTW, my jar from this range went to live with it in my parent's household :)
