Pink bird in flight + aventurine stand - Barovier ?
« on: July 22, 2010, 05:58:36 PM »
I'd forgotten about this bird.  I think I did put it on here about 5 years ago, but never got a definite answer as to who made it.  I know that Javier (Svazzo) has one on his front page, but the details of it have long gone so I'm non the wiser.

Can anyone give me an ID for this perhaps?  :)

Alfredo Barbini.  Barbini had this type of base for many of their c 1960 bird sculptures.

There are a couple of similar birds that are aventurine on creamy lattimo (Item 280507850642). They have a Camer Glass label on them. I don't know if all these type birds were made for Camer, but it might be.

Barbini? Wow...that's great  news!  I actually remember Svazzo mentioning the 'camer' label on his site ages ago, when he detailed this bird back then.  I've been Googling 'Camaro' & 'camero' for quite a while with no success, so thank you sorting that out for me - and for giving me the manufacturer.   :rah: :rah:  :kissy:

BTW, it's gold in the pedestal if your bird is like the others of this type. Much better than aventurine.

I searched my images to see if this base type was used only for Camer. I found a photo of a two-bird sculpture that had the base. It had a Barbini for Weil label. So the base is not exclusive to Camer Glass. At least we can say Barbini with reasonable confidence.
