M..... in a bottle,problem,help!
« on: July 27, 2010, 02:13:07 PM »
Just under 8 inches high, probably eastern in origin, found in the mother-in-laws shed on the floor, after giving it a quick wash I noticed something stuck inside so gave a good prod , shook it up and tipped it up,lots of what looked like small dark short hairs came out! does any one know how to get a dead mouse out of a bottle? :spls: to late for the RSPCA I'm afraid :srn:

Definitely far eastern in origin.
Wait until decomposition is complete and it has turned to dust?
Dissolve the remains with an acid that doesn't disolve glass?
Ummm, is it actually worth getting the mouse out?
Do you love the bottle and want to keep it?

It's definitely too late to tempt it out with peanut butter.

No, I'm not suggesting the corpse is worth more than the bottle ("the bottle" was the last noun I used in that context,  :P ).
I think the corpse possibly devalues the bottle, perhaps from 99p to 95p, with a bit of luck and a generous customer (who didn't notice the corpse) in a charity shop, but my worry there would be the health hazard.  :-X :-X :-X

 :o :o

From this link, http://www.vinegartips.com/scripts/pageViewSec.asp?id=7  it states the following below:
""Remove the smell of a dead mouse or other rodent (after removing all animal remnants) by wiping down the area with either white distilled vinegar or bleach. Then place a fabric softener sheet in the area to remove any lingering odors."

Would leaving it outside in the  :sun: Sun help (??) him shrink more (dehydrate out) more ??  Then try bleach after, then the Vinegar trick...

Glad you did not *post* a pic of Mickey mouse ..... ;D  :24:

......And do not be shy to mention this --  as I imagine that there are *several glass pieces* that we AL have bought that have some strange stories, or the same that you have encountered.  Stuff like this happens....and how many POP bottles end up being re-washed, and sanitized, and re-sold --  after the same has happened to them.  We have no clue.

No nice, sure -- but it happens!!

I use sodium bicarbonate to remove nasty whiffs,
- including those of fabric softeners/conditioners from all my clothes before I wash them when I bring them home.  :srn:

So Keith, is that the mouse?  You got it out of the bottle?

I was going to say DONT put any liquids in it until you have the corpse out unless the opening is quite a bit larger than the mouse (which doesn't appear to be the case).

No I'm afraid it's not,the actual one is not going to be a pretty site so I'll probably bin both bottle and corpse before it starts to pong!
