Who made these antique miniature oil (night) lamps?
« on: October 23, 2020, 02:10:54 PM »
We have seen these lamps described as being "Moser-style".  We contacted Moser (in the Czech Republic) but they indicated that they had not made
these lamps (or in fact any lamps at all) and suggested that the lamps were probably made between 1880 and 1900 and that they might have
been made by the Harrochov Glass Works.  We attempted contacting them but could not find a working link that would enable us to do so.  The
lamp in the first photo is pictured in Figure 584 of Frank & Ruth Smith's book "Miniature Oil Lamps" but no information on its origin is given in that
book or in any of our other references.  We are members of the Night Light Club, an organization of miniature oil lamp collectors.  One of the club's activities
is to identify the age and origins of these lamps.  This is particularly challenging for lamps that were made in Europe.  We are convinced that these lamps were made in Europe and we'd guess that Bohemia (the Czech Republic) is a likely place.  We would greatly appreciate any information or insights that could be offered.

:) Hello and welcome. I can't help with your query, I am sorry, although somebody else may well be able.
I am replying to ask you to try to think of another username for yourself - and have asked a moderator to fix things officially - it is for your own protection. You have used your email address and you could get harvested by spambits.

Thanks to Sue for flagging this up for us to deal with, I've amended the name that is displayed alongside kschwartz's posts. This won't affect the details s/he logs in with at all, just what is displayed publicly on the board.
