Recent acquisitions to my collection
« on: July 29, 2010, 11:55:15 PM »
I just added a new album titled 'Recent Acquisitions' to my photo albums on Photobucket. A link may be found down by my signature. These are weights that I've acquired over the last year or so and are a real hodgepodge of various makers & styles.
Hope you enjoy  :)

Wow, Mark, congrats on your "recent acquisitions"!  It is always a pleasure looking through your albums.  I see you've added some new roses to your garden, among other things.  I particularly like the rose bud on a sandy ground.  You'd better watch out though, that VT lizard may just enjoy roses for lunch!  That lizard looks huge -- like a dinosaur!!!  All I can say is ...... magnificent!  Would you consider putting artists names to your treasures; I see some are identified.  How did you come to collect roses?

Great Show ..... Lily

You can drag your cursor over what little of the name that shows under each pic to see the full title of each weight.
I'll get around to tagging them all eventually. I once had my entire collection on Epson's site and then they upped and shut the site down so I'm a bit reticent to put alot of time into this one.

Originally, I only collected egg shaped weights. These were of the gift glass variety until I discovered L.H. Selman.
Then, I commissioned many of the modern masters to make an egg shaped weight for me.
When I contacted Francis Whittemore and he told me he was no longer making weights, I decided to get one of his crimp roses. Over time, crimp roses became my fav weight type & style and so as I studied them extensively, I endeavored to acquire at least one example from every maker who had ever made one.
I'm still at it!   LOL

The Trabucco lizard is indeed a biggy at 5'' diameter & a tad over 4'' tall. I just got it on ebay last week for a good price though it will still take some time to pay off.
Thanks for looking, Lily  :)

You have a very lovely and varied collection. I enjoyed looking at it. Thanks for letting us see it! I especially liked your Parabelle. I have a couple but they are no where near as nice as yours
I collect Scottish and Italian paperweights and anything else that strikes my fancy.

Thank you all for your input :)

Lily, I'm ready to respond to your queries on the other board but it won't let me post anything.
