Per Lutken???...Amtheyst/Deep Purple Bottle Vase...
« on: August 01, 2010, 03:47:45 AM »
Hi all, I bought this one some time ago. A beautiful Amethyst/Deep Purple bottle vase. It was listed as a Per Lutken piece and I just need confirmation if it is or is not!? And if not, does someone know who it is by? I have been searching google to no avail and I do not have an Scandi Glass books to check. My searches are turning up nothing! It is packed away so I cannot give dimensions.

Oddly, the glass has a pulegoso effect but is not true pulegoso in the sense...any help appreciated.  ;D

If it's not marked as such, I always assume it's not Per Lutken. However, the shape is close to model 1289, which is 123mm high and 97mm across. I don't know about the colour, though. I'm not sure what you mean about pulegosa.

Hope this is start.

If you see the third picture shot you will see a myriad of irregular air bubbles. This is through the whole piece! Its like a half baked pulegosa glass effect. It is a quality piece and made well but is it a Per Lutken piece?! As you said, no signature. But the quality is excellent. Its confusing...

Not all of Per Lutken's designs for Holmegaard were marked, the mould/mold blown vases were not.

Is it clear cased?

John

No John it isn't, no casing at all...so it could still be Per Lutken piece?

I don't know whether it is or is not, I suspect not (the bubbles).

Have a look through Per Lutken's designs here: http://www.hardernet.dk/ you will need to choose Designers and then scroll down to LÜTKEN, PER.

So KP how about another picture? A photo of the bubbles may be useful. You will need to turn off the flash on your camera, when you use flash
the light bounces off the surface of the glass and we need light passing through the glass to see the bubbles.

You could use a white background (paper/material etc) and daylight. Alternatively, the simplest method may be to stick it on a windowsill and take a close up photo.

What are the dimensions? You would have to unpack it..... ;D
