Large Handkerchief vase? Please Help - ID = Chance Brothers
« on: August 01, 2010, 02:56:45 PM »
Hi, Todays carboot find, it is quite large 18 cm high / diameter 23 cm with amethyst / purple pin stripe decoration.
The seller said this had label on (she washed it off) but could not remember what it was, she seems to think it started with the letter b,
would this be bohemian by any chance? the base does have some wear

Thanks

Robert.

Made by Chance Brothers, pattern name is Cordon, circa 1961.

Shown in the great book "Chance Expressions" by David P. Encill (a member of this board).

I think this particular pattern was much later than c.1961. That was the date in which Cordon was first introduced, but the translucent purple print also appears on 4in and 5in models, which probably dates them c.1975 onwards.
