Two unknown cased glass vases, Scandinavian maybe?
« on: August 02, 2010, 08:20:46 PM »
Hi all, I'm after any info you might have on these two vases. I bought the large amber one at the weekend on the inkling that i had another one up in a box in the attic. After a bit of searching through boxes I found the smaller blue one. Now that I have two I thought I would ask for help on an ID. The amber one is about 7.25" tall, the blue small one 5", both have flat polished bases. I had an idea they might be Scandinavian and I was sure I had seen them in one of my books but I can find no trace of them. Thanks in advance, David

Hi David, there's a vase just like your amber one shown in the book "Hi Sklo Lo Sklo" by Mark Hill, on page 54, described as Harrachov (Czech), designed by Milan Metelak in 1968.  Colour is shown as Topaz.

Hi Wayne, and thanks for such a quick reply, I know I have not got Hi Sklo lo sklo by Mark Hill ( on my to get list ) but i remember flicking through a copy at a fair once, maybe thats why i'm so sure I've seen it in a book. So not Scandinavian at all, and maybe a lot older than I thought, once again I realise that i've so much to learn, cheers again D
