Topic: Identification request... Kings Lynn Studio Vase?

I recently purchased this super vase from an old gentleman who had owned the vase for some time. He recalled it being quite expensive when he purchased it and being told it was either Langley or Kings Lynn. Can anyone help with an ID for this piece? The vase has a ground out and polished pontil mark. It measures 15cm in height.

It does look like a vase from Wedgwood (they bought Kings Lynn) designed By Ronald Stennett Willson. Not sure what sizes they were made in or how the base was finished.

There is one in Charles Hajdamach 20th Century British glass page 330 but the shape looks very slightly different and the colours are orange and white rather than the brown.  It says they were designed by Ronald Stennett Willson for Kings Lynn glass. But does say the height is 5" (12.5cm) so I'm not sure if it is the same

They were made in browns too, Lepton is the vase coloured with spots of brown or is it spots of brown and white?

Hi,

The pattern number for this vase is RSW/110. In the catalogue for the exhibition held at King's Lynn in 2004, the caption under the photograph refers to them as 'Squat Vases'.

They vary in size and shape slightly because they were hand made, so can be broader or slimmer, and inded height varies. I have just taken two out of their 'nesting' place and they measure as 13.7cm and 15cm; the taller of the two has the look of being noticably taller even though there's very little difference - still, could be two sizes. On a quick flick through the books and catalogue there seems to be no mention of the sizes, although Susan Tobin refers to four versions.

It also came in pink and white swirling, from memory.

EDIT: Yep, I was avoiding the wrist breaking Hajdamach, which does indeed have the size!  :huh: 5"/12.5cm and 6"/15cm does suggest that either there was a large latitude/tolerance in sizing, or, that there could well be two sizes. N.

Thank's to everyone for the informative comments. I suspected this was a RSW studio vase. This correlates with the history I obtained from the previous owner.

For the record... The vase has brown spots, fading to a murky green nearer the top. The white in the images I sent is just the background showing through the clear glass.
