Whitefriars and Swedish?
« on: August 10, 2010, 07:58:09 AM »
Hi, I have just spotted a few auctions which need confirmation.

1. The first one looks like a Whitefriars piece (left one) : http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=309640044

2. The second I have not seen before, possably Sweden or Finland? : http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=309678549

3. Don't think this is Whitefriars? : http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=309710366

4. Whitefriars? (looks good) : http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=309593932

Any thoughts would be appreciated before I bid on none/all?

HI, thanks for confirming No. 1 and 4, they are more along the line that I collect.

I already have WF 9722 (K), do you think that No. 1 is pattern 9720 or 9721?

Thx, I think your right, the one on auction looks like it has three obvious depressions on the rim, whereas the 9720 from the catalogue you can clearly see two...maybe it is just the angle of the pic? Am I right to presume these where only produced in 1969?

I'm a bit suspicious of the bowl (no. 1)............the indents don't look right to me.
I can only find them in the 1969 catalogue made in Kingfisher and Tangerine.

Here's the catalogue page showing the three variations if you scroll down and I don't see any indents in the photographs............as you say, the photo s "iffy" and it IS possible some were made in Green (if it is green) - it may be Kingfisher which is a notoriously difficult colour to photograph right.

Hi Emmi
It looked close to Kingfisher on my monitor- especially compared to the green next to it, and I assumed it was just an odd angle..

I could be wrong, of course.. it has been known ;)

[EDIT]  actually, now I look at it, the indents look more like traditional ashtray/ cigarette indents than the petal like indents on the Whitefriars pieces.. hmm.. yes, I'm, not certain either now...

You're probably right, I've had trouble with colours on my monitor before :spls:

But what about the indents........?  And I have seen Italian look a likes .........
They are indents aren't they, or am I seeing things?

I think the colour looks a bit odd because of the purple cloth underneath it?
