Topic: Help please with Identifying a possible Frantisek Vizner vase.

Hi there,I hope everyone is well.Could someone please confirm that this vase is by frantisek Vizner.If so does it have a generic name.For example waisted vase or lens vase.Also what is the correct colour description.Lilac or Amethyst.The dimensions are approx 21cm high, 10cm wide at widest point,7cm at narrowest point and the top lip is about 1.5cm thick.The weight is approx 1354 grammes.Do these vases come in different sizes and shapes. Are these vases more common than the lens and waisted vases.Thanks in advance.

Yes it is Vizner, no it doesn't have a generic name that I am aware of. I would say the colour is Amethyst.

Tapered, waisted form with quadrant ribs. Pattern number 13139 Rudolfova Hut 1962.

It was made in two sizes 180mm and 210mm and was exhibited in 1972 at CLS, Gottwaldov

If by collectable you mean value then this would have a higher value to collectors as it is considerably more scarce than lens or waisted vases is in one of the most desirable colourways (at least over here) and is by Vizner (a lot of people seem to specialise in collecting his designs).

I have no idea what the market in Australia is like though and can only speak for myself really and I would certainly love to own it.

Thanks Nemmie.Here in Australia we obviously don't have as many educated buyers in comparison to Europe.But in saying that people are starting to catch on.I usually collect murano glass,but I have started leaning towards some of the older czech pieces.I prefer the  more abstract designs.Are you saying that my vase is the 292 version.

I misread the information initially (not actually awake yet!). Both sizes have the same catalogue number 13139. The 292 relates to a exhibition they were shown at in 1972.

One day I will find one of these over here along with two other pieces of Vizner and then I can die happy. They seem to turn up in the US and Australia more than they do here perhaps because they are less collected.

I'm almost positive that I have seen this exact same piece at a different market which is about a two drive from home.I think they were asking for approx $90 -$100 aus.Maybe you could fly over here and buy it.

I may drive there this weekend to see if it is still there.Its funny because that vase has been there more than a year.I bet if I drive there it will me gone.

texts are in Czech but you can take a look to the photoes and use the lings that will show more pictures and also two videos with Frantisek Vizner.

When you will take a look almost to bottom of page you can see 2 black&white pictures from Frantisek Vizner diploma (state examination) works. Your vase is also there in plaster model - it means that design of it made Frantisek as a student of VSUP in 1962 (technical drawing for mould fabrication for this vase is dated 19/04/1962.

This piece was also presented at last Frantisek Vizner exhibition in Bruntal, see
