Opalescent vase with Elephant head handles
« on: July 06, 2004, 08:07:32 AM »
Hi one and all
Can anybody help me with an ID for this large opalescent vase with elephant head handles. It is 10 inches high by 7 inches in diameter at the top by 4 inches in diameter at the base, and is 12 inches across the handles. I feel it is from late 1920s to early 1930s could be French or Bohemian, mould work for handles is very good, the base has wear plus a polished centre, here is a link to my Yahoo photo album.

Hi Tony,

If you look at my slightly earlier message 'SOWERBY ELEPHANT DISH' you'll notice these have very similar handles. However, I'm waiting for confirmation on whether mine are actually Sowerby and I'm sure Bernard C will reply shortly.

Is Tony's bowl in anyway linked to Sowerby?

Have no idea on maker, but I think it's fabulous and wish I could find one over here. Only possible suggestion is Etling since I know some of their stuff appears unsigned.
