Beautiful blue bowl with 3D internal flow
« on: December 14, 2005, 03:55:54 AM »
The photos will show what I'm trying to describe. The colour is a little more lilac blue than they appear.
It is 16cm high at the back and 18 across from front to back.
The outside has a matte appearance but that is due to ?incised fine lines.
The internal layers look as though they have been built up and in one place overlaps the rim but it has a clear interior.
Please, is this 'studio glass' ? I bought it because my heart went 'boomboom' on seeing a photo. I can see in my mind's eye how it was made but would be grateful for opinions about it. [Even from people who don't like it!].
It is unsigned and unmarked [no blemishes].

http://tinypic.com/ilymfm.jpg Bit flat and washed out ? due to flash.
http://tinypic.com/ilyjvd.jpg    Interior somewhat dark.
http://tinypic.com/ilykk8.jpg Close up of interior.

I would be very grateful  for any more information.

It looks very like contemporary Kosta Boda to me.  :D

I agree to contemporary - it looks centrifugally pressed not hand formed can you confirm the bottom is machine finished?

Ulrica Hydmann-Vallien's 'Mine' and Anna Ehrner's 'Blue Moon' and 'Tempera' for Kosta Boda, have that lovely swirly blue.  I had a pair of 'Mine' beakers but they were both marked with UHV and a logo on the base.

Thank you, some 'leads' to follow, yes the bottom is machine finished.
