This most unlikely scallop in brown and white colour flecks has a clear foot attached

http://tinypic.com/ip16hl.jpg

And now for the difficult part. It has the remains of a transparent foil label which reads:

?ILDKROKEN
?? - SWEDEN

Meaning, I think, that it is not Murano

Guesses, please!

Bit of a longshot, Ivo, but there's a gallery Atelje Kroken here:
http://katalogen.sunet.se/reginfo.html?id=40944&lang=english the linked site won't work for me in Linux though so I don't know how much use this is to you.

It works just fine for me on Firefox under XP. The Atelje does OljemÄlningar i think that means oil paintings

The site possibly uses some sort of code that gives Linux the heebie-jeebies.

We find this sometimes with some sites that use ActiveX components or run on .asp. Or it could be a Java site as I don't enable Java on my system.

Anyhow, was worth a mention just in case. :)

Thank you very much.

The scallop, meanwhile, has been confirmed as Swedish.
Guldkrokens Glashytta, located in Hjo, Sweden, active 1972-1982. There is a large ceramics factory there now, which seems to specialise in handpainted piggy banks, and a glass and ceramics shop.

Good guess, Max!
 :D
