id please for black glass container - ID = Century Glass plinth
« on: September 12, 2010, 06:58:33 PM »
I have searched various possible sources, and am sure I have missed it somewhere   -  I thought, before I looked that it was Davidson, but don't see it on that site.   180mm/7.1/16 square  -  80mm/3.1/16 high.   No evidence of water staining whatsoever, and regrettably no marks of any kind.   In fact just as clean and shiny (apart from some scratches of course) on the inside as the outside. although fair amount of wear on the feet.     Therefore, a bit clueless as to original purpose.    Any guidance as to maker and age will be very much appreciated, and thanks for looking.

I might recall this thread, but unfortunately tinypics vanished

Saw your 'plinth' elsewhere too, perhaps it was Keith's

my thanks to all of you, and for the links, most of which I have read but wouldn't say I have wholly digested - I will read again tomorrow :)     So - we have a plinth that has the 'feet' uppermost - of course I am without the bowl, so can forgive myself for getting it all 'back to front' - although oddly someone appears to have been using my one the wrong way up for some time, as the knobs show considerable wear (having been used as 'feet'). and what correctly is the top, is very clean.
I may have missed the fact, but did the bowl for this mould No. 450, have a name do we know.   Thanks again to all of you, and I hope that I may well now find the bowl at one of my boot sales. :)

Yes, apologies, I had in fact read that, and then promptly forgot it.........'a stepped square plinth that, upside down, could be used as a bowl (**mould 450, 16th Sept. 1950)' .......too late at night for the little grey cells to have been functioning usefully. :)

While investigating catalogues today for another item (Libochovice lidded dish DUBARRY) I found that plinth and bowl again:

Libochovice 1930 - 1939, page without no., item # 1963 /A

This catalogue came with Pressglas-Korrespondenz 2010-1, Anhang 06 page 14/23

Readers of PK: can you please confirm if I'm right?
