Milk Glass ? ID = Davidson 17 or 167
« on: September 16, 2010, 07:55:19 PM »
Am familiar with the popular American grape and cable pattern but the pattern on this seems more raised/prominent than some of the pieces I have been looking at.  American or possibly French?

I'm out of my Dept. but I'd have thought Westmoreland or EO Brody.

mmmmmmmmm EO Brody and Westmoreland seem to have a sort of transparency on their milk glass from the images I have found.  Tis looking more like Imperial at the moment

Hello

I think you are barking up the wrong tree with the North American companies.  The moulding is superb which is not a strength of Westmoreland or Imperial.

A matching cream pitcher with a wonderful rustic handle is on ebay right now:

http://cgi.ebay.com/VICTORIAN-PRESSED-MILK-GLASS-CREAM-JUG-/160481976540?pt=UK_Art_Glass&hash=item255d78a0dc

It is also in the UK.  I think this comes from much closer to you than the USA.  My first thoughts would be somebody like Heppel or Davidson given the detail and secondarily the location of the two pieces being the UK.  Could the posted example be the sugar basin? If so then almost assuredly English or Continental.

Hello

Pretty sure these are Davidson's 17 or 167 (two sizes for the same pattern).  See the attached catalog cut.
