I really like this cannister. I bought it regardless of the damage. Any ideas?

I knew that, lol, i knew it was a pickle jar, just testing to see if you knew your pickles from your storage cannisters.     :pb:

It has a Sklo Union type base, does that not dwindle it a bit though?

No, it just means it's more likely early 20th century than Victorian.

I do know what dwindle means - I didn't know what was dwindling - the quality of the piece, or the list of possibilities...
my fault - my brain hit a comprehension blank. 
And, as you can  see, a communication blank as well.

Sorry, i meant the countries of manufacture are dwindling.

I see, so the style of base was used by almost all of the glass manufacturers worldwide. I didn't know that. I have only found this style of base on Czech glass.
