Green and clear glass bird with aventurine
« on: October 09, 2010, 11:11:44 AM »
I bought tweety last weekend intending to sell it on but it has already been snaffled by a friend. Would still like to find out anything I can about it though. It looks similar to one on the Great Glass website (Item 6550) but it is hard to see the detail on such a small photo: http://www.great-glass.co.uk/library/lib4a.htm

Ok, the bird in question is nicely formed in clear and green glass with plenty of aventurine, crimped beak and round bulging eyes, polished base, 10cm in length.

Thanks,
John

The flakes are more gold than copper in colour Ivo, the thing is it looks like the other items I have seen photographed and described as aventurine. :-\

The way the color and gold are done is like Archimede Seguso. Without a label, it's hard to know for sure, but it would be my first choice for your bird.

Thanks Anita, that's what I thought too after browsing Lace & Stone, I assume it is a dove...

Now I need my friend to decide it is no longer wanted. >:D

If he is offering 25 pounds or more, I would let him have it. Either that or wait for the Murano bird market to pick up. I hope Christmas will see an improvement.

It only cost me a couple of pounds, as long as it finds a happy home then that will do for me. :)
