Uranium spiral pattern bowl - maker, date?
« on: October 10, 2010, 02:12:14 PM »
Hi!
If three make a collection, I´ve meanwhile got one of these. The bowls are blown, with a spiral pattern
of Mica inclusions. Known colours so far are clear, clear with a non UV green rim, green, emerald uranium
and amber.
Whenever they pop up on ebay, I see them described as something different - the description often led
by wishful thinking...
Anyone able to release me?
Datewise I´m undecided. The shape looks a bit Art Déco, but they might as well be 50´s-60´s production.
They come in two sizes: ~36cm and ~30cm in diameter.
If they should have been made in Germany (as the frequency they are found here possibly points to) my
candidate would be WMF, but that´s just an uneducated guess...

Thanks Christine! I´ve only once seen one of them on ebay.com, but I can´t remember if the item
wasn´t possibly located elsewhere.
Shall I drop you a line next time I see one? Although the colour doesn´t necessarily suggest they
glow like mad.  :kissy:

I'd love one, but space is now an issue, so thank you but no thank you.

I´ve asked a very reputable ebay seller about the source of his attribution for these
bowls and he wrote me he has had several labelled examples over the years.
So WMF Art Déco can be confirmed now.  :D
Yippie and a thanks to him.!

Nope, the book is only on Ikora and these are not Ikora, but a different range. There´s
still no book on WMF´s glass output in general I think.  :(
